SSSGL – MEMBERS SPRING BREAKFAST MEETING

April 8, 2025 – Houston Hall

Call to Order:  Chairman Ed Sims called the meeting to order at 8:45AM with 54 Members in attendance.

Moment of Silence was requested by Chairman Sims for Gene Kiefer who passed away since our October 8th Fall Breakfast.

Invocation: Mike Crookston  

Recessed for Breakfast and the meeting was called back to order by Chairman Sims at 9:15AM.

Thanks to the following by Chairman Sims:

 

·        Welcome everyone as we start the 2025 SSS Golf League season!

·        Michael Shook for preparing a wonderful breakfastBest Wishes to his father, Charlie, who is recovering from      scheduled open heart surgery.

·        Dale Brown for volunteering to be our 2025 Vice Chairman and for picking up the door prizes.

·        Reminder – Volunteers make all of our League activities possible!

 

Officer and Committee Reports:

 

Secretary – Chuck WilsonThe October 8th Fall Breakfast Meeting Minutes were unanimously approved after a motion by John Boal and a second by John Beltich.

 

Treasurer – Pat Rochford:  The beginning cash balance for 2025 is $2,443.  In 2024 there was no charge for the Fall Breakfast; we may be able to do the same in 2025. Most of our due’s money is paid in cash prizes; $300 for the Spring & Fall Breakfast and $450 for each of the four Play Days.

 

Statistician/Website Manager – John Eichenlaub:   The password on our website has been changed for 2025.

 

Nominating Committee – Tony Virgalitte:   Volunteers are the key to our League – Get involved in a committee or other activity.  For 2025 will be requesting a person to serve as Vice Chairman in 2026.  Also, a person to serve as Assistant Secretary.

 

 

 

Starter Committee – Tony Virgalitte for Keith Limbacher:

·        Special thanks to Tom Golenski for serving as our regular Starter at Loyal Oak and Chenoweth. 2025 will mark Tom’s 9th year volunteering for this important position.

·        Keith Limbacher will request Starter volunteers in 2025 for Good Park.

 

Membership Committee – Dave Elzemeyer: 

·        4 new Members as of this date.  Total Membership for 2025 will be 90 plus.

·        Deadline for New Members is June 1st.

 

Tournament Committee – Ken Kot:

·        Thanks to Joe Miller who served the prior two years as Tournament Committee Chairman.

·        The Chairman’s responsibilities are now documented thanks to input from Don Rearick, Bob Brownfield and several Board Members.

·        Committee Members for 2025 are Joe Toris, Joe Crookston, and Mike FullerDale Brown will advise. Joe Palmiero and Chuck Wilson will help with automated tabulation of the scorecards.

·        Changes for 2025: Registration for Play Day in by Friday vs. Monday, the last groups will be assigned to pickup proximity markers, and formats will be sent to all via e-mail the week before the Play Day.  Format will generally be A, B, C, D with one drive per golfer for each 9.

 

Food Committee – Co-Chairs Terry Avant/Floyd Crognale:  Thanks to Bill Cindar who assisted with donuts and serving.  Terry will order all new supplies for 2025.  Floyd will continue with the same four entrees from Leach’s: pulled pork, Salisbury steak, chicken alfredo and lasagna rollup.  Additional volunteers may be required; will be determined in May.

New Green Fees 2025

·        Good Park – No change,

·         Loyal Oak, plus $1 except Play Day = $25,

·         Chenoweth, plus $1.

Tee Times   

·        Good Park - 18 @ 7:45, 9 cards in 8:10,

·        Loyal Oak - 18 @ 8:00, 9 cards in 8:10,

·         Chenoweth - 18 @7:45, 9 cards in 7:40.

 

 

Pace of Play (especially at Chenoweth)

·        Play “Ready Golf”.

·        Park carts on the side of the green nearer the next tee.

·        Do not waste time looking for lost golf balls!!

 

Old Business

·        SSSGL Polo Shirts – Chuck Wilson/Dan Bishop – A second order will be placed with the forms being e-mailed to all Members by Thursday, April 10th

·        April Golf – Send your e-mail address to Joe Cass to be included in the notifications.

·        18-hole Golfers – Request by Bob Brownfield to have second 9 recorded for credit.  The Board will review at their meeting following today’s breakfast.

 

Door Prizes

 

Loyal Oak 9 Holes walking passes:  Joe Toris, Ken Kot, Art Pokopac, Bill Cinadr.

 

Chenoweth 9 holes riding passes: James Lee, Joe Cass, Joe Gibson, Pat Rochford, Pete Effinger, Kurt Winebrenner (new member).

 

Good Park 9 holes riding passes: Larry Becker, Tom Hudock, Mike Crookston, Rich Golenski.
