SSGL - MEMBERS FALL BREAKFAST MEETING
OCTOBER 6, 2026 – Houston Hall
Call to Order: Chairman Dale Brown called the meeting to order at 8:50 am
Moment of Silence: Chairman Brown requested a moment of silence for Ken Cox who passed.
Invocation: Don Rearick led our Breakfast Invocation.
Recessed for Breakfast and Chairman Brown called the meeting to order at 9:15 am & opened with expressions of appreciation toward the following members:
Charlie Shook for the breakfast, Terry Avant & Floyd Crognale – Food committee chairmen for over 5 years, John Eichenlaub, Website manager & statistician, and Tom Golenski – Starter at Loyal Oak & Chenoweth the past 9 years.
Chairman Brown also recognized the Executive Board:
Vice Chairman Len Sikora, Treasurer Pat Rochford, Secretary Chuck Wilson, Tony Virgalitte – Membership, Keith Limbacher – Nominations, John Eichenlaub – Website Manager.
Chairman Brown emphasized the importance of volunteers as the key to the league’s success.
Secretary Chuck Wilson – The April 6 Spring Breakfast Minutes were approved after a motion by Frank Zugaro & seconded by John Kropac. Chuck also expressed how his participation in our league over the years has allowed him to build strong personal relationships with fellow members.
Max Devia, Assistant Treasurer – The league financials are in good order with positive cash balance of $2,103, very consistent with last year. Max also announced the option of using Zelle for member payments (dues, play day, breakfast) in 2027 instead of cash. More details on this will be included in the upcoming Newsletter due in February.
Statistician, John Eichenlaub – Over 10k rounds of golf were played this year, broken out as follows: GP – 796, Chen – 635, LO – 515. Average score was just over 48.
Merle Mackay won Most Improved award, Greg Smith won the Iron Man award, Mike Fuller had best gross score of 33, and David St. John had best net score.
Ken Kot, Tournament Committee – Play Days were wildly successful this year! Ken emphasized that teamwork was the key & expressed his appreciation.
Terry Avant/Floyd Crognale, Food Committee – Great job of managing the Play Day lunches, from timely ordering, serving & cleaning up. Congratulations again!
The committee announced that 2027 will be a year of transitioning to Jim Golden & Scott Jones.
Tony Virgalitte, Membership – Tony reported that of the 18 new members that joined our league this year, 14 were referrals from current members. We now have a total of 102 members.
Ed Sims, Starter Committee – Special recognition went out to Tom Golenski, who got assists from Dave Elzemeyer, Dan Bishop, Duke Wilson & others. Great Job all year!!
Keith Limbacher, Nominations 2027: Chairman – Len Sikora, Vice Chairman – Joe Carlier, Max Devia, Treasurer, Pat Rochford, Asst. Treasurer, Mike Kost, Secretary, Chuck Wilson, Asst. Secretary. These nominations were approved after a motion by Bob Brownfield & seconded by John Kropac. Alseo serving in the following positions for 2027:
Dale Brown – Starters, Ed Sims – Nominations, Keith Limbacher – Membership, Ken Kot – Tournament Chairman, Food Committee – Jim Golden & Scott Jones, Website/Statistician – John Eichenlaub with Kurt Winebrenner assisting.
Old Business – 1. Chuck Wilson announced that 139 shirts were sold amongst 60 members. The new ones are lighter weight pullovers for $38.
2. E-mail Joe Casalinova if you want to be added to the contact list for Off Season golf.
3. Winter Breakfasts – Mon @ Farmer Boy & Thurs @ Akron Family Restaurant, both at 10:00 am.
New Business – Dale Brown spoke of the recent survey sent to members for feedback on the 3 courses. So far, we’ve gotten 32 responses. Dale also mentioned that Good Park has new management, so we need to be prepared with an alternative course if onerous changes are announced in the future. Bob Hill submitted a proposal that is being considered by the Board to switch days at Good Park & Loyal Oak. More details on this will be shared & announced in the February newsletter.
